Photographed is Sir Louis Vitton, vacuum kitty from a university campus that didn’t want him and kept making cats “disappear.” Now he lives inside like he owns the deed and still refuses any pets!

Where Chaos Meets Compassion

Hello, human visitors.
We are The Chaos Crew, the feline founders, creative directors, snack inspectors, and overall rulers of this sanctuary.

Mewtual Chaos is a creative cat haven for displaced feral and community kitties…and the stories, songs, and mayhem we inspire.

We blend rescue, books, music, and mischief to turn chaos into compassion.

What is Mewtual Chaos?

Mewtual Chaos is a small, family-run sanctuary in rural southeast Alabama. A whole bunch of us call this place home — the displaced, the semi-feral, the medically complicated, the misunderstood, and the cats who were one bad day away from losing everything.

Our staff (the humans) help us share our lives through:

  • stories
  • songs
  • videos
  • educational posts
  • and eventually children’s books

We represent the cats who don’t fit the typical mold: the spicy, the shy, the quirky, the seniors, and the chaos gremlins who only pretend to behave. More…

Behind the Chaos

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes at Mewtual Chaos. Allow us, the cats, to explain what really goes on around here.

The Sanctuary

This is our forever home…especially for cats who lost their outdoor territory, came from unsafe conditions, or were added to shelter kill lists because they weren’t “adoptable.”
Many of us are spicy, feral, or just deeply suspicious of humans with clipboards.

The Stories

Every cat here has a tale. Some of us end up in children’s books, others star in educational posts, and a few of us inspire more “The staff will never emotionally recover from this” stories than they’d like to admit.

The Music

We also make parody songs! Educational, chaotic, and funny.
Spay/neuter messages? Colony care tips? Random feline drama?
We sing about it all.

Meet Some of the Chaos Crew!

Every member of the Crew here has a story. Some of us were pulled from shelter kill lists, some lost their caretakers, and some arrived through the vacuum effect after other cats disappeared. We are many, but here are a few familiar faces you’ll see in books, videos, and posts:

Boo

Former feral. Now follows his favorite staff member everywhere like a shadow with whiskers. Outdoor king with a giant heart.

Professor

Calm. Wise. Judging everyone silently. We look to him for leadership (and he’s good at getting us snacks).

Clementine

Quiet, gentle, soft as a whisper. The sweetest girl who melts at the slightest pet.

Books, Songs, & Stories

We’re still building our little corner of the internet, but our creative plans are already in motion. Soon you’ll see:

  • Picture books and early-reader stories featuring real sanctuary cats
  • Cat parody songs and music videos
  • Blog posts with behind-the-scenes looks at the sanctuary
  • Educational content about community cats and the vacuum effect

When new creations drop, this section will display them proudly.

Sanctuary at a Glance

Mewtual Chaos is not a traditional shelter. We’re a long-term sanctuary for cats who would struggle to fit anywhere else — the displaced, the semi-feral, the spicy, and the medically complex. Our cats live outdoors on six rural acres, with indoor care for special-needs residents.

Quick Stats:

  • ~150 cats cared for at the sanctuary and foster working homes
  • Majority came from unsafe situations, removals, or campus colonies
  • Many arrived through the vacuum effect
  • Free-roaming outdoor environment with indoor medical space
  • Family-run and primarily self-funded

How You Can Help

Look, we know not everyone can donate, and that’s completely okay!
We literally can’t buy our own catnip, despite requesting a pantry tab many times, so we understand financial hardship. Luckily, you can help us with zero-dollar chaos:

  • Follow and share our videos
  • Engage with our social media
  • Read our books and enjoy our music
  • Visit Lend a Paw to support through engagement, wishlists, or direct support
  • Shop using our affiliate links — we earn a small commission at no extra cost

Every like, share, follow, and comment helps provide care for these frisky, sometimes ferocious, felines.
